Railway Days in Strabane is a retrospective look at the railway in Strabane - which up until the end of 1959 was a significant railway junction between the standard
gauge lines of the UTA and the narrow gauge of the CDRJC. The latter closed at the end of 1959 and the former in 1965.
Chapters in the book cover the historical background of the railway lines converging on the town, railway reminiscences - primarily from former staff, a hijack at
Porthall in 1957 and closure of the line. One of these sets out the reason for the gangway across the tracks at the station (a pre existing right of way). An appendix
lists all railway staff known to have worked in Strbane.
The book is well illustrated and the railway built heritage of Strabane and nearby stations get a good look in.
